Seminar “New Markets, Fresh Lessons”

Location: Tallinn

Open

How to enter a new market, what steps to take, and what mistakes to avoid?

At this event, Estonian music entrepreneurs will share their fresh experiences and practical lessons after recently taking part in the AMP Focus programme. Through the programme, they selected one new market to explore more deeply, testing their first development activities and export strategies there.

Henrik Ehte (Funk Embassy) will talk about Rita Ray’s experience in the UK, including a showcase concert in London, and share insights on how best to approach the UK market.

Greten Lehtmaa (Greator Productions) will open up about what they have learned and tried with Curly Strings in Germany, and highlight the role of PR and marketing in gaining a foothold in a new market.

Thea Zaitsev (Tier Music) will share knowledge gained from focusing on the gaming sector and participating in various gaming conferences in both Europe and the USA. As gaming is an important part of the sync landscape for artists, Thea will explain how music actually makes its way into games, and how easy or difficult it is to get a foot in the door.

Kertu Mägar (FAAR Music) will talk about her experiences with K-pop and the South Korean market, from songwriting and producer sessions to the local business culture, and how it differs from Estonia’s music industry. She will also discuss how realistic it is for a song by an Estonian writer to end up in the repertoire of a K-pop megastar.

The participants will share their fresh experiences and thoughts in a free-form discussion: which strategies and tools have proven effective, what advice they received from local market experts, what mistakes to avoid, and what to experiment with. The audience will get a realistic overview of what to be prepared for when considering the international growth of Estonian artists and companies.

Date and time: 29 September, 14:00–16:30

Participation comes with a symbolic ticket price of 5 euros. This contributes to our activities, keeps registration intentional, and helps us better plan for actual attendance.
