Contact trip to Canada
Location: London & Toronto, Canada
From August 16–22, UNESCO City of Music Tallinn and Music Estonia will organize a networking and industry trip to London and Toronto (Canada) to connect with local music industry professionals and organizations. In addition, the delegation will take part in the official opening of Toronto’s KESKUS and the NCC x KESKUS Toronto networking program organized by VEMU Estonian Museum Canada.
We invite Estonian music companies to apply for the delegation by Friday, May 27 (inclusive). Five companies will be selected to participate, and the companies and organizations visited will be chosen based on the profiles of the selected participants. The delegation will stay up to three nights in both London and Toronto, meaning the full trip, including travel time, will take approximately one week. Participants may also extend their stay in Toronto through VEMU if desired.
The Music Estonia coordinator for the trip is Greete Paršin.
What participants will receive:
- In-person meetings with local music companies in London;
- In-person meetings with local music companies in Toronto;
- Optional accommodation at the Tartu College Student Residence in downtown Toronto from August 19–22 (with the option to extend the stay by two additional nights, August 22–24);
- Access to the opening event of Toronto Estonian KESKUS on August 20;
- Networking event(s) within the NCC program on August 21 and 22.
Music Estonia will partially cover travel and accommodation expenses. Participants may receive travel support of up to €1,500 through a lump-sum grant scheme (reimbursement based on submitted travel expense documents).
The grant will be paid after the trip upon submission of invoices and expense documents issued by the company (VAT will not be added to the invoice), or earlier by agreement if all supporting documents are available beforehand.
What costs are covered by the participant?
The participant is responsible for any remaining costs not covered by the grant, including additional travel, accommodation, or local expenses.
Who can apply?
We welcome applications from music companies registered in Tallinn that already have export activities in Canada, North America, neighboring regions, or a well-developed plan to begin operations in these markets. As places are limited, we prefer up to one representative per company, although additional participants may be accepted if spots remain available. Up to five companies will be selected by a commission assembled by Music Estonia.
In addition, VEMU will select five more companies from the applicants to participate in the NCC conference taking place from August 19–23, supported by the City of Toronto.
How to apply?
To apply, please complete the short questionnaire HERE (in Estonian).
In the questionnaire, we ask you to briefly outline your company’s/your artists’ plans, export activities in the North American market, and your interest in participating in the networking trip.
Applications are open until May 27 (inclusive).
