Trade mission to Iceland
Location: Iceland
A contact trip for up to a 10-member Estonian music delegation to Reykjavik to also participate in the Iceland Airwaves music industry conference and festival. The aim of the trip is to strengthen ties between the Estonian and Icelandic music sectors, exchange experiences, and create new contacts.
The program will include meetings with companies and organizations such as Iceland Music, Iceland Sync Creative, Marvada, INNI, Alda Music,Bedroom Community and others. The final selection will be made according to participants’ profiles and interests. The purpose of the meetings is to learn about the functioning of the Icelandic music scene and discuss potential areas of cooperation.
Why participate?
Iceland Airwaves is one of Northern Europe’s most important festivals for new music and a key meeting place for the music industry. Each autumn, it brings international professionals and diverse live performances to Reykjavik. Iceland also serves as a unique meeting point between the European and North American music industries and as a natural bridge into Nordic networks.
Despite having a population of only 400,000, Iceland has produced a remarkable number of internationally successful artists, including Björk, Sigur Rós, Of Monsters and Men, Hatari, Laufey, Ólafur Arnalds, GusGus, and many others. Additionally, Iceland has built a strong position in film music and composition, working closely with the audiovisual sector.
All this makes Iceland an exemplary case of a small country whose music sector has achieved global impact — and from whom Estonia has much to learn.
This year, Estonian band Night Tapes will perform at Iceland Airwaves.
