On Saturday, 23 May, Rosendals Trädgård in Stockholm hosts the second edition of Hooked on Estonia, a vibrant one-day festival where music, food and design come together in the blooming grounds of Royal Djurgården. Presented by Visit Estonia, with Tallinn Music Week and Music Estonia among its partners, the festival offers a rare chance to experience Estonia’s most adventurous music and creative scenes in Stockholm.

Free and open to everyone, Hooked on Estonia invites visitors to discover a country that never stops reinventing itself.

Tallinn Music Week — one of Europe’s most acclaimed new music festivals and industry conferences —curates a live stage at Rosendal from 1pm to 7pm, presenting four standout Estonian acts with Swedish connections.

The live programme opens with The ROCKET – Svante Söderqvist Trio & Tuulikki Bartosik, a Swedish-Estonian collaboration pushing accordion innovation and Nordic jazz to its edges. Singer-songwriter Anna Kaneelina and Erki Pärnoja follow — a voice of rare vulnerability held by a guitar of rare depth. Pärnoja then performs his album Himmelbjerget, where Nordic psychedelia meets Morricone, with his Swedish band. The stage closes with Duo Ruut, a zither-and-voice duo and Glastonbury-approved, Guardian-celebrated folk phenomenon gone gloriously global.

I Land Sound — the electronic music and arts festival from Estonian island Saaremaa — presents its own Secret Garden stage, where selectors Paap, noa and MHKL spin tracks from Balearic to bass with a special island spirit.

A day before, the music industry development centre and export office Music Estonia will coordinate a delegation of Estonian music companies meeting key players in the Swedish live music industry. Representing Estonia will be KIKUMU Festival, MYM.EE, Main Character Agency, Tier Music Publishing and JVPromotion.

Beyond the music, a rare 6 Hands Chef’s Table unites Michelin-recognised chefs from Estonia and Sweden, while the Taste of Estonia pop-up shop, an IgluCraft sauna, Tallink Silja kids’ area and curated design spaces complete the picture of a country with much to offer.

Ahead of the public programme, an invitation-only Creative Industries Mix & Mingle brings together representatives from Estonia’s music and design sectors and their Swedish counterparts. The gathering features welcoming remarks by Margus Laidre, Ambassador of Estonia to Sweden, and Xenia Joost, Deputy Secretary General for Creativity at the Estonian Ministry of Culture, with sector introductions by Music Estonia and the Estonian Association of Designers. The day’s music programme will be introduced by Tallinn Music Week.

As travel between Sweden and Estonia continues to grow year on year, the destination is fast establishing itself as a favourite for city breaks. Just a one-hour flight from Stockholm, or an overnight ferry connecting city centre to city centre, makes it an easy and compelling escape.
