Music Estonia’s General Meeting Elects New Supervisory Board
The members of Music Estonia gathered on Monday, 26 October, at the Botik garden bar in the Põhjala factory for its annual general meeting, where a new Supervisory Board was also elected. The evening continued with the traditional season-opening event “Jutt & jook”, which was open to all friends from the music sector.
More than 30 representatives present at the general meeting of Music Estonia, the representative organisation of Estonian music companies and the development centre for music entrepreneurship, cast their votes. The new Supervisory Board’s mandate lasts two years, until October 2028.
The new Supervisory Board includes, as newcomers, Eva Johanna Lepikov (Shiftworks), who brings the festival perspective; Greten Listra (Greator Productions), who represents the managers’ perspective and the classical music field, and who has also worked in the jazz and pop music worlds; and Siim Ammon (Unibet Arena), who brings the perspective of concert and event venues. Continuing their terms on the Supervisory Board are Mart Eensalu (Live Nation Estonia), who conveys the needs of major promoters, and Sandra Perens (Tier Music Publishing), who represents the perspective of music publishers. The new line-up brings together representatives of festivals, concert promoters, publishers and managers, which provides support for strategic leadership in developing activities at both the local and international level.
Eva Johanna Lepikov, Head Producer of Tallinn Music Week at Shiftworks, comments: “I am sincerely delighted and honoured to join the new Supervisory Board of Music Estonia and to have the opportunity to contribute even more substantially to the direction of an organisation that is so important to me, and to all of us. One of the most important goals of my work is to promote and represent the diversity of our music ecosystem. In addition, I hope to stand on the Supervisory Board for the voice of festival and small-scale organisers, including, drawing on our experience in Ida-Viru, those operating regionally.”
Sandra Perens, who works as A&R (Artist and Repertoire) and artist manager at Tier Music Publishing, adds: “At the general meeting, we discussed how Music Estonia has grown into an organisation that not only supports the development and export capacity of our music companies, but is also the voice of our sector. Although I have long been involved in ME’s activities from different angles, working on the Supervisory Board has given me great respect for the people who deal with our troubles and joys on a daily basis. I hope that in the new term I can support their work and efforts even better with my contribution!”
Mart Eensalu from Live Nation Estonia, who continues on the Supervisory Board and represents the promoters’ perspective, says: “I am glad to note that the renewed Supervisory Board is well balanced in every way: it represents both experience and fresh perspectives, a wide range of fields of activity, and gender diversity. The balance between existing and new members is also good. I believe and hope that together we will form a strong whole and be able to support Tõnn Kuuli in leading and developing the organisation, so that the baton handed over by Ave will be carried on with dignity, and Music Estonia will unite and support the music sector ever more strongly.”
The task of the Music Estonia Supervisory Board is to stand up for the interests of the sector and convey those positions to the public, to analyse and strategically guide the organisation’s activities, and to support the achievement of its goals. The Supervisory Board has the authority to make proposals to the head of the organisation on matters relating to its development, strategy, assets and budget, and to admit and expel members. The Supervisory Board meets at least four times a year, and the new Board’s mandate begins on 1 November. On the same date, Tõnn Kuuli will take over the baton as Director and Managing Board member from Ave Sophia Demelemester.
